Cigarette smokers who are also vaping face higher toxicity, researchers found

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – While vaping was marketed as less harmful than smoking cigarettes, researchers reported it is clear doing both isn’t safe.

Researchers found tobacco users who use e-cigarettes to taper off face higher toxicity and a lower rate of smoking cessation.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 20% of the population still uses tobacco products and the majority are cigarette smokers.

Vaping has become more common in recent years, but the public health community has yet to determine what the consequences will be in decades or if it is a gateway to nicotine addiction.
