MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A man suspected of shooting and critically wounding his mother-in-law in Miami Gardens was apprehended Tuesday, almost 24 hours after the crime, police said.
Police said they arrested Bilal Ismail, 49, just after at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday in connection with the shooting, which happened just before 11:30 a.m. Monday.
According to investigators, Ismail shot his mother-in-law in the 4400 block of Northwest 203rd Terrace and took off in a Ford F-150.
Police said he was “apprehended without incident” after a “felony traffic stop on a silver Toyota RAV4.”
The motive for the shooting remained unknown Monday.
“We don’t know what caused him to fire a shot at the mother-in-law, but the son-in-law did fire a shot at the mother-in-law who does reside at the residence,” a Miami Gardens Police Department spokesperson said Monday.
Ismail was not yet listed in Miami-Dade jail records as of Tuesday.
