MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left one man dead Tuesday morning.
According to Detective Angel Rodriguez, the shooting was reported just before 6 a.m. at the Mansion Townhome Condominiums, located at Northeast 151st Street and Sixth Avenue.
Rodriguez said deputies arrived at the scene and found a man who had been shot.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
Sources told Local 10 News that the victim was shot in the back of the head.
He was identified later in the day as 38-year-old Romainson Joseph.
Authorities did not immediately have information about the shooter or a motive.
“We have no subject information, so we are asking the community -- it was early on in the morning and if you saw anything, or heard anything, or have any possible video, please step forward with that information -- that is really going to help our detectives with this case,” MDSO spokesman Joseph Peguero said.
Local 10 cameras captured a few people being questioned, as dozens of neighbors and relatives spent much of the morning in the area.
“They just called me, my friend’s mama, to see if it was my baby daddy or not -- that’s it,” a woman named Cookie said, adding that she was unsure whether her child’s father was involved in the shooting.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
