Couple grieves beloved dog shot in Miami Gardens

DAVIE, Fla. – Lenai Rosier and Fitzgerald Lawrence said they loved their dog like a son.

A week ago, 3-year-old Smoky ran out of their apartment in Miami Gardens and returned wounded and later died.

6 p.m. report:

“My heart is outside of my body, actually, it’s like the worst thing ever, ever, my worst nightmare, like my kid honestly,” Rosier said.

The couple took their dog to Advanced Veterinary Care in Davie and X-rays showed he had bullet fragments after a bullet went in and out.

Lawrence said there was nothing the vet could do to save Smoky.

“It’s like my kid that we just lost,” Lawrence said.

A GoFundMe page was created to help Smoky’s owners raise money for his vet bills, and it can be found by clicking here.

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 to remain anonymous.
