Police officers rescue 2 toddlers from drug-related nightmares in same South Beach area

SOUTH BEACH, Fla. – Within weeks, two toddlers in separate Miami Beach cases needed to be rescued from adults who neglected them while facing drug problems, according to police.

The cases were blocks away from each other. A 2-year-old girl who asked for help in Spanish was near Pennsylvania Avenue and 16 Street and a boy from Ohio was near Euclid Avenue and 11 Street, records show.

Police officers found the girl naked and crying while fire rescue responded to help her mother and father who suffered drug overdoses early Sunday morning in an unsanitary apartment, records show.

Just a few weeks before, police officers found the boy during an undercover investigation related to a drug dealer who had loaded stolen guns in an apartment where a woman had suffered overdoses, records show.

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 to remain anonymous.
