Miami police said the victim, told 24-year-old Reinaldo Manuel Cardenas that the court near Southwest First Avenue and Southwest Eighth Street in Brickell was closed for pressure washing.

That’s when Cardenas became irate and told the guard, “I am going to kill you,” the report states.

Police said Cardenas then threw a basketball at the guard, hitting his body, and then punched him several times in the chest.

The guard managed to detain Cardenas and placed him in handcuffs until police arrived.

While in handcuffs, authorities said the suspect spat on the victim, hitting him in the right side of the face.

They said Miami Fire Rescue transported Cardenas to Jackson Memorial Hospital after he complained of a headache.

He was later booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where he remained in custody as of Friday afternoon on a $5,000 bond.

Jail records show he is facing one count each of battery and assault on a police or transit officer.
