Aventura police seek thief who they say stole cat from pet store

AVENTURA, Fla. – Aventura police are investigating after they said someone swiped a black and white cat from a PetSmart adoption center off Biscayne Boulevard.

The cat was taken while customers were inside the store looking to adopt pets, according to volunteers with Furever Saved, a rescue organization that works with the store.

Nathalie Shein, who helps run the group’s adoption center inside the store, said the cat was inside a carrier when someone walked off with him.

“Our rescue has the adoption center inside this store, and I just feel horrible,” Shein said while in tears. “That cat was in my care. There’s just a lot of bad people out here. I don’t know if they’re one of them.”

Shein said she hopes whoever took the cat will do the right thing and return him.

Anyone with information is asked to call Aventura police at 305-466-8989.
