Miami-Dade woman wins $1 million prize playing Lottery scratch-off game at Publix

CUTLER BAY, Fla. – A woman from Miami-Dade County cashed out big after playing a Florida Lottery scratch-off game.

Miozotis Quintana, 55, of Cutler Bay, claimed a $1 million top prize from the Platinum Mine 9X scratch-off game at the Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee, Lottery officials confirmed Wednesday.

They said Quintana turned $5 into $1 million when she purchased her winning ticket from Publix, located at 20951 Old Cutler Road in Cutler Bay.

Quintana she chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $605,016, Lottery officials stated in a press release.

The retailer received a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

“Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, comprising approximately 74 percent of ticket sales in fiscal year 2023-2024,” the Florida Lottery said in a news release. “Additionally, since inception, Scratch-Off games have awarded more than $65.5 billion in prizes, created 2,283 millionaires, and generated more than $19.80 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).”
