MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – An intense investigation stretched well into the night at a Miami-Dade County Wawa gas station.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office roped off the entire business, located along Southwest 248th Street and 112th Avenue, and focused their attention on an area alongside a white SUV and in front of the convenience store.
Sky 10 was over the scene right after the 911 call came in, just before 6 p.m. Monday.
Arriving deputies found a critically injured shooting victim who was rushed to an area hospital by helicopter but was later pronounced dead.
Local 10 News learned detectives received crucial information in the minutes that followed the gunfire, to include a description of the gunman and a getaway vehicle.
Not long after, deputies were able to track down a GMC pickup truck about a mile and a half away from the shooting scene, and after deputies pulled over the vehicle, they arrested a suspect who matched the description given by witnesses.
It was a possible break in a murder case that detectives are still trying to unravel, one that happened in broad daylight and in front of other patrons.
Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
