LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – A 50-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting an 81-year-old woman last week in Lauderdale Lakes, the Broward Sheriff’s Office announced Monday.
According to BSO spokeswoman Gerdy St. Louis, the victim was sexually assaulted just before 4:30 a.m. Friday near the intersection of Northwest 50th Avenue and Northwest 34th Street.

“When deputies arrived on scene, they met with the victim, who stated an unknown subject, later identified as (John) Isom, threw her to the ground and sexually assaulted her,” St. Louis said in a press release. “During the violent ordeal, the victim yelled for help, and two individuals ran to investigate. The individuals told detectives when they arrived at the location, they observed Isom on top of the victim. Detectives say Isom then fled the area.”
Detectives obtained images of Isom, which were released to the public.
He was then located and taken into custody Sunday near the 4600 block of West Sunrise Boulevard in Plantation.
Isom was arrested on charges of sexual battery on a person 18 years of age or older, false imprisonment and battery on a person 65 years of age or older.
As of Monday afternoon, he was being held at the Broward County Main Jail on a $700,000 bond.
