Dog that led troopers on I-95 chase adopted, has new job

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A dog that led Florida Highway Patrol troopers on a chase Monday on Interstate 95 has found her forever home.

According to the Humane Society of Broward County the good girl, now named Taylor Swift, got a medical exam by the HSBC veterinary staff and be spayed.

On Monday, Taylor was spotted darting across the northbound I-95 on-ramp at Davie Boulevard, creating some canine chaos to troopers trying to catch her.

The showstopper stopped traffic before she was eventually placed in the backseat of an FHP cruiser.

She wasn’t arrested, but simply restrained and taken to the Humane Society of Broward County.

Staff at the HSBC believe they found her the ideal home. She is going to be part of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Paws & Stripes program. This program is specifically focused on training therapy dogs, not traditional police work.

Taylor Swift will be matched with a handler, and together they will attend several weeks of training to make sure Taylor is comfortable in various situations.

According to Cherie Wachter of the HSBC, “there will be no more puppies in Taylor Swift’s future, just spreading cuddles and love to those in need. She will also be a Dolly’s Dream Dog. The HSBC works with this foundation to help dispel the myths about bully breed dogs. We are confident that Taylor Swift will be an exemplary example of the types of great dogs you can adopt from a shelter. Her adoption fee will be covered by the Dolly’s Dream Foundation, and she gets a shopping spree in the shelter’s Pet Boutique.”

She will be leaving the HSBC on Sunday morning.
