South Florida middle school teacher faces 17 counts of sexual abuse against minor

Said he had sex with the victim about “10-15 times”

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – A South Florida middle school teacher is facing several sexual abuse charges after police say he had sex with one of his students.

Christopher Trey Withers, 32, was arrested on Monday.

According to Palm Beach Gardens Police, Withers, a teacher at Watson B. Duncan Middle School, began communicating with the victim, who is now 17, on Snapchat.

The victim told police Withers “took on the role of her mentor” when her father passed away when she was in eighth grade.

According to police, the victim said the majority of the sexual contact between her and Withers happened when she was 14 and 15 years old.

According to an arrest report, Withers said he had sex with the victim about “10-15 times.”

Withers was the victim’s seventh grade math teacher.

Jail records show that Wither’s faces 17 counts of lewd and lascivious behavior on a victim aged 12-16.

He is being held on a $260,000 bond.
