Authorities confirmed that 26-year-old Briley Gargis was taken into custody in an investigation tied to internet crimes against children.
Officers with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force said the search took place at Gargis’ home, located on Northwest 67th Street near Fourth Avenue, directly across from Edison Park K-8 Center.
Local 10 News was at the scene where detectives in plain clothes escorted him in handcuffs into the back of a marked Miami police cruiser.
Gargis was wearing a hoodie that he used to conceal his face.
Live noon report:
They said the warrant was issued following cyber tips that flagged online activity linked to the possession and dissemination of child sexual abuse material.
The case began when authorities said they discovered approximately 127 images of suspected CSAM on an internet platform used by Gargis at his residence.
Officers said they reviewed 15 of the images and, based on their training and experience, determined they met the legal definition of child sexual abuse material.
An arrest report stated that Gargis possessed videos of girls as young as 6 years old engaging in sexual content.
Police said Gargis was taken into custody and faces 15 counts of illegal possession of images involving sexual performance by a child.
As of Wednesday, he is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond is listed as “to be set.”
