Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Fairfield Inn just just before 7 p.m. after receiving a report of a gunshot.

Deputies said after arriving at the scene, Armando Donamaria admitted to firing a 9mm handgun into the headboard of the bed.

He told deputies he believed the gun was unloaded but did not provide a clear reason for pulling the trigger, according to investigators.

No injuries were reported.

Jail records show Donamaria is facing one count of firing a deadly weapon in an occupied dwelling.

His arraignment date is set for April 15.
