TAMARAC, Fla. – Broward deputies were called out to the Tamarac rental home of 34-year-old Mary Gingles, who authorities said was killed by her husband in a February triple murder, along with her father and neighbor.
George David Jr., the uncle and godfather of victim Andrew Ferrin, the neighbor of Mary Gingles, said a group of strangers identified themselves as her family and started taking items.
“(They took) a couple of toys,” David said. “I know they were looking for different documentation. Also, they had mentioned that Mary Gingles was in the military.”
He called Mary Gingles’ relatives. He then told his brother to call deputies.
“They had approached themselves as being the actual aunt of (Mary Gingles) when they were not,” David said. “So that kind of misrepresentation put a panic into all of us.”
Mary Gingles’ family lives out of state.
He claims he learned when crews arrived that they were actually relatives of the accused shooter, Nathan Gingles.
It’s all playing out on the backdrop of an ongoing custody dispute over 4-year-old Seraphine Gingles, who Nathan Gingles, 43, is accused of bringing along for the killing spree. Deputies said she watched the entire tragedy unfold.
Ever since, David has focused his energy on pushing for real change.
“Our priorities are actually to help that family get her daughter back and for us to change the legislation to enforce the existing legislation for domestic violence,” he said. “It has obviously a ton of different deficits.”
A Broward Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said the agency is aware of the matter and is looking into it.
Mary Gingles’ cousin said the perpetrator has been allowed to violate her things again.
Witnesses say there was a moving truck company there the next day. In the meantime, a termination of parental rights hearing for Nathan Gingles is coming up as Mary Gingles’ family seeks custody of Seraphine.
