SOUTH MIAMI, Fla. – South Miami police surrounded an apartment building Tuesday after “three gunshots” were reported there. But authorities said they determined it was the result of a hoax call.
According to a police social media post, the shots fired were reported at at 6341 SW 80th St., just east of U.S. 1.
Video from Sky 10 taken just after 1:20 p.m. shows SWAT team members and at least two armored vehicles at the scene.
Police later said the call was the result of “swatting” — “a false report made to provoke a police response.”
“Thankfully, there was no active threat,” police said in a social media post.
