FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A car salesman and a luxury watch vendor testified in federal court Wednesday against Sean Kingston in Broward County.
The federal prosecution’s witnesses accused Kingston, also known as Kisean Anderson, and his mother, Janice Turner, of defrauding them.
The two are facing wire fraud charges that stem from accusations that they falsified documents to defraud businesses.
“I love my fans,” the musician said outside of the courtroom in Fort Lauderdale.
In the courtroom’s witness stand, Andre Bush said he met the Jamaican-American artist at the home where he lived in the Southwest Ranches neighborhood to sell him a Cadillac Escalade.
Bush said that after not receiving payment, but a fake wire transfer receipt, the “Beautiful Girls” musician refused to return the luxury car, and eventually paid $20,000.
The defense argued the artist paid $70,000 for the Cadillac before the dealership took it.
A salesman for Mazal Jeweler told the jury the artist had also provided him with a fake wire transfer receipt to avoid paying for a $285,000 watch.
The defense claimed the artist referred customers to Mazal Jeweler as part of the deal for the watch. Wire fraud charges are punishable by 20 years in prison.
