Man arrested after soccer game turns violent in Miami, police say

MIAMI – A 23-year-old man was behind bars Tuesday after he was accused of getting violent with a minor during a tense game on a soccer field under the shade of Interstate 95 in Miami.

Police officers arrested Juan Gonzalez shortly after midnight at the Stadio Soccer, which remains open until 3 a.m., at 571 NW 73 St., in the Little River neighborhood.

According to the police arrest report, witnesses told Miami officers that Gonzalez “punched a minor in the face” after he had been “aggressive” and taunted opponents.

According to police, Gonzalez, who was born in Colombia and lives in Miami’s Overtown area, caused injuries that required treatment at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Miami-Dade correctional deputies booked Gonzalez, also known as Juan Andres Gonzalez Gordillo, shortly after 4:05 a.m., at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

County records show Gonzalez faced a charge of aggravated battery with great bodily harm and his bond was $7,500.
