The 28-year-old from Nevada, who leaves behind a 1-year-old daughter, died earlier this month at a post-operation recovery house in Miami.

Frantz ‘Jahra’ McLawrence, Esq., the family’s Fort Lauderdale-based attorney, says Ahmonique Miller and her younger sister Kiera Barnes traveled to Miami from Las Vegas on March 5 to obtain cosmetic surgery.

After their procedure, they stayed at Keyla’s Recovery House, located at 3637 SW 4th St. in Miami. 0

Miami Police spokesperson Officer Mike Vegas told Local 10 News the department’s homicide unit is investigating the death.

McLawrence said it is alleged by Miller’s sister that the young mother was provided an un-prescribed pain medication.

Her autopsy and toxicology reports are pending.

McLawrence says Miller owned and operated two small businesses in Las Vegas with multiple employees and was an aspiring music artist.

She leaves behind her newborn daughter, mother, sister, and brother.

“Recovering from post operation should not equal a death sentence,” McLawrence said. “Ahmonique Miller should be alive with her one year old daughter, running her business. Instead she is dead due to being provided un-prescribed medication while at Keyla’s Recovery House. The family and community demand a thorough investigation and justice for their loved one.”

Local 10 News reached out Keyla Oliver, the owner of Keyla’s Recovery House, by phone and email for comment, but have not heard back as of the time of this story’s publication.

Anyone with additional information about this case is urged to call Miami police.
