Video shows the car belonging to Hedy Lichtenberg and her 79-year-old mom, Betty, taken from them outside the Aventura Medical Tower building at 2801 NE 213th St. on Tuesday afternoon.

“I look up and the valet guy is like, ‘Hey, that’s not your car,’” Hedy Lichtenberg said. “I look up and he puts in drive and takes off.”

The car was recovered, but the pair was left shaken.

“It’s like someone violated me,” Hedy Lichtenberg said. “They took my property without my consent.”

She added, regarding her mother, “I’m thankful that she wasn’t already in the car.”

Hedy Lichtenberg said she got a call saying the vehicle was recovered but was never told whether the suspect was caught.

“They had called me late afternoon yesterday, and said that I was able to pick it up,” she said Thursday.

The car was left damaged.

“I was afraid for (my daughter’s) health, because she’s also a cancer patient and it’s just overwhelming,” Betty Lichtenberg said.

Local 10 News tried contacting the Aventura Police Department Thursday for an update on the case. We had not heard back.
