MIAMI – A man was arrested Wednesday, two weeks after he allegedly exposed himself and masturbated in front of two women inside an apartment building in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood, authorities said.
According to Miami police, the incidents occurred March 2 at the Maizon Brickell luxury apartment building, located at 221 SW 12th St.
According to an arrest report, Ismael Antonio Aburto, 21, of Miami, first entered the building and stood in front of one of the building manager’s offices and began masturbating while looking directly at the 40-year-old woman.
Police said Aburto then ran out of the building after he had finished, but later returned and masturbated in front of a 27-year-old woman who lives at the building – again running away after he was finished.
According to the report, detectives eventually identified Aburto as the suspect, who they had learned had recently been arrested by Hialeah police in connection with a grand theft auto case.
He also has two cases pending in the city of Miami for grand theft and battery with strangulation.
Police confirmed he was initially taken into custody Wednesday in connection with the battery case.
After connecting him to the Brickell incidents, he now faces additional charges of burglary of an occupied dwelling, stalking and indecent exposure.
According to police, a similar crime was reported last month in Coral Gables. Another woman reported that she saw a man masturbating at about 11 p.m., on Feb. 16, at the University of Miami’s Donna E. Shalala Student Center.
Police have not said whether they believe Aburto is the person behind that incident.
As of Thursday morning, Aburto was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center where his bond was listed as “to be set.”
