DAVIE, Fla. – The Town of Davie has rolled out its School Zone Speed Safety Program, with speed cameras going live on March 17.

During the initial 30-day grace period, drivers caught speeding in designated school zones will receive warnings in the mail. However, starting April 17, citations will be issued, carrying a $100 fine for violators.
According to Davie police, the first two locations where speed cameras will be operational are:
*Eastbound on SW 30th St. near Nova Southeastern University and University School
*Northbound on SW 133rd Ave. near Flamingo Elementary and Western High
Speed camera enforcement will take place 30 minutes before and after the start of a scheduled school session.
During the grace period, from March 17 to April 16, violators will receive warnings.
Starting April 17, fines of $100 will be issued to the vehicle’s registered owner.
The town says additional cameras have been installed but are not yet live at the following locations:
*Southbound on College Ave. at Eisenhower Elementary/Nova Middle, Davie Elementary
*Westbound on SW 30th St. at NSU University School
*Southbound on SW 136th Ave. at Western High/St. Bonaventure Catholic School
*Southbound on SW 133rd Ave. at Flamingo Elementary/Western High
Davie is the latest town to implement these cameras. They are already up and running in Hollywood, South Miami, Pinecrest and unincorporated Miami-Dade.
The Town of Davie says their goal is to enhance safety in school zones and protect children, school staff, and the community by discouraging speeding near schools.
