Crash victim reunites with firefighters who helped save his life

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man who was injured after a crash with a Coca-Cola tractor-trailer last week is now out of the hospital.

One of his first stops was to see the firefighters who helped save his life.

Travis Kelly walked into the fire station Tuesday morning with a broken elbow, but otherwise in good shape after last week’s accident.

He’s from Atlanta and was driving back home at the time of the crash. He said he didn’t understand how bad the crash was until he saw the pictures.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue’s Technical Rescue Team was called out to the scene to free the trapped Kelly from his vehicle.

The doors needed to be ripped out and the rescue process took about 30 minutes.
