MIAMI ā Two pedestrians are recovering in the hospital after being injured during a crash that involved a Miami police officer.
It happened Saturday around 6:30 p.m. in the area of Northwest Seventh Street and 47th Avenue.
Ambulances and other Miami police officers rushed to the scene as dozens watched two ladies get injured as a result of the accident.
According to an officer, the driver of a Toyota sedan was making a turn when it crashed with the officerās cruiser that was driving in the opposite direction.
Witnesses who saw it all happen said the officer quickly got out of the cruiser and started performing CPR on of the badly injured women.
āAs with any scene involving someone who requires medical attention, our job as first responders is to immediately provide first aid or any kind of lifesaving measures to ensure that we assist the person in need,ā said Miami police officer Kiera Delva. āFire rescue immediately responded here on scene and we were able to transport them and to continue any type of medical assistance that is required.ā
The cars involved in the crash were left with extensive damage and the streets were closed for hours for officers to fully investigate this crash and later to clean the debris left behind.
Many hours into the investigation and early Sunday morning, both cars were finally towed away.
After he helped the victims, the officer who was involved in this crash was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
The driver of the Toyota was not injured.
