BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Sens. Rick Scott and Ashley Moody want to move the NASA headquarters to Florida’s Space Coast when the lease in Washington, D.C., expires in 2028.

On Friday, the two Florida Republicans introduced the Consolidating Aerospace Programs Efficiently at Canaveral Act, or CAPE Canaveral Act.

In a statement, Scott argued the move “will not only save Americans’ tax dollars, it will enhance efficiency and streamline operations.”

Boeing and Lockheed Martin both have headquarters offices in the northern Space Coast. Collins Aerospace, Leonardo DRS, Northrop Grumman Corporation, and Embraer hold major centers in the southern area.

Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station are also in Brevard County. Blue Origin, SpaceX, and OneWeb Satellites use the launchpads. L3Harris, holds headquarters in Melbourne.
