Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies took Jadyashua Marshall, 23, of West Palm Beach, into custody on three felony charges on Wednesday.

According to an arrest report, the investigation began in October. The victim had transferred the $32,004.46 after falling prey to the scammers, deputies said.

The money then went into Marshall’s Discover Bank account, the report states.

Deputies said the bank has recently “sustained multiple instances of fraud resulting from phishing schemes” which “lead to the issuance of Discover cashier’s checks funded with stolen victim funds.”

“The Discover account was subsequently closed upon receiving the funds, resulting in the issuance of a cashier’s (check) made payable to (Marshall), which (was) mailed to her home,” the report states.

Authorities said on Oct. 11, Marshall went to the Check Cashing USA store at 18403 NW 27th Ave. in Miami Gardens and tried to cash it.

“At my direction, due to the ongoing investigation, the transaction was declined and the check was seized,” the investigating deputy wrote in the report. “(Marshall) subsequently contacted Discover and requested a second replacement check indicating her check had been lost.”

Authorities said 18 days later, Marshall went to another Check Cashing USA store in Pembroke Pines and again tried to get the money.

During the check verification process, Marshall tried to bribe the teller to process the transaction, the report states. But it was declined.

Deputies arrested Marshall in the area of Northwest 22nd Avenue and State Road 9 in Opa-locka on Wednesday.

Facing charges of grand theft, organized fraud and attempting to cash a worthless check, she was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on an $8,500 bond as of Thursday afternoon.
