POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Tequesta Burris is living every mother’s worst nightmare.
Her son, Ke’Tavious Walker, was shot and killed last month in Pompano Beach, and now she’s pleading for anyone with information to come forward.
“I just need someone to reach out and understand what it is to be a mom, knowing that you’ll never be able to hug your child again or talk to them again,” Burris said.
Investigators said Walker, 30, was shot just before 1 a.m. on Feb. 16, near the 700 block of Northwest Sixth Street.
Broward County deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to the scene and found Walker suffering from a gunshot wound.
Authorities said he was rushed to Broward Health North, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators from BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units are working to determine what led to the shooting.
Burris hopes her plea will convince someone to speak up.
“I can’t even explain how it feels to lose someone you truly love,” she said. “I keep wanting to hear his voice or hear him say, ‘I love you.’ Think about if it was your child — wouldn’t you want to know what happened?”
Anyone with information on Walker’s killing is urged to contact BSO Detective Alison Craven-Swan at 954-321-4200 or submit a tip through the SaferWatch app.
Anonymous tips can be sent to Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 or online at browardcrimestoppers.org. Those whose tips lead to an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $10,000.
