Emylee Puig, 22, was arrested on May 27, 2024, after police said the couple got into an argument via text about their relationship issues.
As the boyfriend was walking home to his grandmother’s house from work, Puig approached him in her car, authorities said.
According to an arrest report, Puig told her boyfriend to get in the car and he complied, slamming the door after he got in.
Police said the couple began arguing about the door being slammed and Puig struck the alleged victim twice in the face.
According to the report, the man got out of the car, at which time Puig grabbed his shirt, causing it to rip.
Police said the man then crossed the street to enter his grandmother’s complex.
According to the report, Puig got out of her vehicle and began throwing her boyfriend’s tools out of her car. She then picked up a metal wrench and struck him in the back of the head with it, police said.
Authorities said the man rushed into his grandmother’s home and was then taken to urgent care.
The man was then transferred to Baptist’s main hospital to be treated for a deep laceration to the back of his head.
Police said Puig was taken into custody a short time later and denied all allegations against her.
According to a no action memo from the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, Puig did not make any statements to prosecutors, however the alleged victim told the state he was not in fear of her and did not wish to testify against her.
Prosecutors also noted that there was no prior history of domestic violence between the couple.
