At least one person in custody after SUV plunges into canal in Sunrise

SUNRISE, Fla. – A white SUV plunged into a canal behind an apartment complex in Sunrise on Friday, and at least one person was seen running from the scene, police said.

It happened near the 2900 block of Northwest 60th Terrace.

Sky 10 flew over the scene around 12:15 p.m., where rescue crews pulled the SUV out of the water shortly after.

3 p.m. report:

Sunrise police said the individuals inside the SUV bailed out before first responders arrived.

Witnesses told Local 10 News that they saw at least two people running from the crash.

Police confirmed one person has been arrested but have not said if they are searching for another suspect or if officers were pursuing the SUV before the wreck.

No other details about the suspect’s age, gender, identity, or charges have been released at this time.
