Less than two days on the job, Juan Jose Romero Ruiz sexually assaulted the grandmother with dementia at her home in Sunrise, according to the Sunrise Police Department.

A surveillance camera recorded the crime. Attorney Anthony Bruno said the woman’s grandson in Orlando saw the disturbing video and asked relatives in the area to Romero Ruiz out.

Sunrise police officers arrested Romero Ruiz who is facing charges of sexual battery and lewd and lascivious behavior on an elderly person.

Romero Ruiz appeared in Broward County court on Thursday. Records show he has an immigration hold. Bruno said her family fears there could be other victims who were under his care.
