Florida Highway Patrol: Driver injures trooper investigating Miami-Dade crash

MIAMI – The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a trooper was injured after several collisions set up a domino effect on Tuesday in Miami-Dade County.

The first crash was along the southbound lanes of Interstate 95, in the area where ramps to eastbound Interstate 195 and westbound State Road 112 meet, according to FHP.

The FHP trooper parked the marked cruiser and got out to investigate the initial crash. The driver of a green Mercedes-Benz veered off the highway, according to FHP.

The Mercedes-Benz collided with the FHP cruiser, which then struck the FHP trooper who was standing near it, according to FHP.

Fire rescue personnel took the trooper to Jackson Memorial Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

FHP did not release information about the crash that the trooper had been investigating. The crashes caused traffic delays.
