Jeanson Novembre was 17 when he was speeding and driving the wrong way before the crash on Feb. 28, 2023, deputies said.

According to a traffic citation, the victim was Melvin Tucker, who had just celebrated his 57th birthday 10 days before the crash.

Tucker, a grandfather, was born in Philadelphia, wed in 2000, and moved to Florida in 2007, according to his obituary.

Tucker was riding a Zhejiang Jiajue motorcycle southbound on Northeast Third Avenue when he died.

Novembre was driving a silver 2003 Toyota Corolla northbound on the southbound lanes, according to deputies.

Shortly before 9:40 p.m., Novembre was approaching Sample Road when he collided head-on with Tucker, according to deputies.

Records show Tuckerā€™s wife, Renea Adams, was also riding the motorcycle and survived her injuries.

After Novembre lost control of the Toyota, he also struck a utility pole that then collapsed, deputies reported

Records show Hinoguere Limage, who was a passenger in the Toyota, was also injured.

Detectives used surveillance video to estimate that Novembre was traveling at 70 mph in an area with a 30-mph speed limit, according to deputies.

Inmate records show correctional deputies booked Novembre on Thursday at the main jail in Fort Lauderdale.

Court records show prosecutors filed a case Thursday against Novembre for three counts of reckless driving causing damage to a person or property, a first-degree misdemeanor; and one count of vehicular homicide, a second-degree felony.

The vehicular homicide charge is a non-bondable offense.
