MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Former Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler is being sued by a South Florida company over a luxury home that he leased.
According to legal documents obtained by Local 10 News, Five Star Marketing and Promotions filed the lawsuit on Wednesday.
In the suit, Five Star alleges Butler stayed in the Miami Beach home two months past when his lease expired in August of 2024. He initially signed the lease in August of 2022, per the lawsuit.
Five Star said that the lease agreement stated Butler would owe double the rent, which would be $130,000 per month, if he stayed past the agreed to term without written permission from the landlord.
Additionally, the lawsuit alleges Butler left the property in disrepair.
According to the documents, Butler is responsible for damage to the home’s interior, it’s air conditioning system and pool.
The total cost of the damage was $127,282, per the lawsuit.
In total, Five Star is suing Butler for $257,282. That number represents two months’ rent and the damage to the property, minus Butler’s $130,000 security deposit, which Five Star said they were legally entitled to apply to his outstanding balance.
Butler was traded by the Heat to the Golden State Warriors back in early February, ending an extended period of turmoil between Butler and Miami.
