MIAMI BEACH, Fla. ā Former Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler is being sued by a South Florida company over a luxury home that he leased.
According to legal documents obtained by Local 10 News, Five Star Marketing and Promotions filed the lawsuit on Wednesday.
In the suit, Five Star alleges Butler stayed in the Miami Beach home two months past when his lease expired in August of 2024. He initially signed the lease in August of 2022, per the lawsuit.
11 p.m. report:
Five Star said that the lease agreement stated Butler would owe double the rent, which would be $130,000 per month, if he stayed past the agreed to term without written permission from the landlord.
Additionally, the lawsuit alleges Butler left the property in disrepair.
Court documents also allege Butler caused $125,000 in damages, including mold issues, damaged drywall and flooring, an unmaintained pool, and a malfunctioning HVAC system. The lawsuit further claims Butler changed the locks and denied the property owner access for inspections.
The total cost of the damage was $127,282, per the lawsuit.
In total, Five Star is suing Butler for $257,282. That number represents two monthsā rent and the damage to the property, minus Butlerās $130,000 security deposit, which Five Star said they were legally entitled to apply to his outstanding balance.
Butler was traded by the Heat to the Golden State Warriors back in early February, ending an extended period of turmoil between Butler and Miami.
Local 10 News has reached out to Butlerās attorney for comment but has not received a response as of Friday morning.
