Gencom to close Ritz-Carlton for $100M renovation

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. – Gencom, a Miami-based investment firm, plans to close the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne for a $100 million renovation.

Hundreds of employees work at the 13-story beachfront building, about 10 minutes away from Miami’s Brickell neighborhood.

The South Florida Business Journal reported Thursday about 425 people who work at 455 Grand Bay Drive, will be unemployed soon.

The employees watched over 291 hotel rooms, 188 condominium units, a spa, pools, restaurants, bars, a tennis center, conference rooms, and a beachfront gazebo for weddings.
