KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. ā Gencom, a Miami-based investment firm, plans to close the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne for a $100 million renovation.
Hundreds of employees work at the 13-story beachfront building, about 10 minutes away from Miamiās Brickell neighborhood.

The South Florida Business Journal reported Thursday about 425 people who work at 455 Grand Bay Drive, will be unemployed soon.
According to a statement by Derek Flint, the market general manager at The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, human resources worked āclosely with employees to provide tailored support and employment options.ā
Flint plans āto welcome backā the staff āas soon as possible once the hotel reopens.ā
The employees have watched over 291 hotel rooms, 188 condominium units, a spa, pools, restaurants, bars, a tennis center, conference rooms, and a beachfront gazebo for weddings.
