According to the Carnival Cruise website, guests are required to be 21 years of age on embarkation day to travel on their own. Guests 20 years of age and younger must travel with a relative or guardian 25 years of age or older (guardian does not need to be a legal guardian).

This rule would go into effect beginning on Feb. 1, 2025.

Royal Caribbean International’s website also lists the guest’s required minimum age to be 21 to sail unaccompanied on sailings originating in North America. Guests sailing out of South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand must be 18 years old.

Guests with questions about the new policy should contact the cruise company or their travel agent for more information.
