SUNNY ISLES BEACH, Fla. – A Miami Beach woman was caught on surveillance video keying a man’s car in Sunny Isles Beach after a dispute over a parking space, authorities confirmed in an arrest report Wednesday.
Sunny Isles Beach police said Damaras Iracema Rivera, 20, was arrested and faces one count of criminal mischief after police reviewed surveillance footage from the parking lot of Newport Fishing Pier Park, located at 16501 Collins Ave.
According to an arrest report, the victim, a 36-year-old man, told officers he parked his red Mini Cooper at the lot around 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 14 and noticed two women in a black car appear upset that he had taken the space.
The women then drove away, the victim told police.
Per the report, the victim said he went to the beach and, upon returning to his car, discovered deep scratches on the driver’s side and hood, which he believed were made with a key.
Authorities said surveillance video from the nearby La Perla condominium showed Rivera walking through the lot at 1:07 p.m., pulling out a key, and scratching the vehicle’s left-side door and hood.
She was seen laughing as she walked away with another woman, according to the report.
Police later confronted Rivera on the beach, where she asked, “Am I supposed to just let him disrespect me?” the report stated.
Police said damage to the Mini Cooper was estimated to be more than $1,000.
The report states that the victim provided a sworn statement and said he wished to press charges.
Rivera was taken into custody and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where she later posted a $2,500 bond.
