According to Broward Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Gerdy St. Louis, Carl Taylor, 25, of Orlando, was arrested last Friday in connection with the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Nathaniel Ursery.

Detectives said the shooting occurred just after 2 a.m. on April 6, 2023, near the 2900 block of Northwest Eighth Court.

Deputies arrived at the scene and found the victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to the neck.

Ursery was transported by paramedics to Broward Health Medical Center in critical condition. He died 23 days later.

“Through investigative methods, detectives identified Taylor as the shooter, and a warrant was issued for his arrest,” St. Louis wrote in a news release. “Investigators with BSO’s V.I.P.E.R. (Violence Intervention Proactive Enforcement Response) unit took Taylor into custody on Friday, Feb. 21.”

Taylor faces one count of first-degree murder with a firearm.

As of Tuesday, he was being held at the Broward Main Jail without bond.
