FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – An abandoned hotel in Fort Lauderdale went up in flames, sparking an investigation into the cause.
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said they responded around 10 a.m. Sunday after seeing heavy smoke coming from the building while responding to an unrelated call.
Over 60 firefighters were on scene, including some from neighboring agencies, to assist with extinguishing the flames.
No one was inside the building at the time of the fire, authorities said.
According to officials, the cause of the fire is considered suspicious and will be investigated.
Firefighters remained on scene for over an hour after the fire was out in order to put out any hot spots.
