According to an arrest report, Tyree Jamar Love, 24, of Miami, is employed by Young Musicians Unite, which is contracted by the Miami-Dade School Board.
Miami Gardens police said the 14-year-old student informed staff members at her school Thursday that she was “involved” with a male teacher at the school.
The name of the school was redacted from the publicly released report.
According to the report, the teen told police that she met Love on Feb. 14 at Buccaneer Park, located at 3100 NW 207th St. and they started talking as they were charging their electric scooters.
Police said while speaking, the teen took out some marijuana and the two began to smoke.
According to the report, the teen said she lied to Love about her age and the school she attends, saying she was 17 and attended Miami Carol City Senior High School.
Police said Love told her he was born in 2000.
The two then exchanged phone numbers and the teen left the park, authorities said.
According to the report, the teen told police that the two stayed in contact through text messages and the two smoke marijuana together at the same park on Wednesday – this time provided by Love.
Police said a text conversation between the two shows that he offered to get the teen a Lyft and said, “It depends on how much privacy we need; I know a lot of outside chill spots or we can get a room. Depending on if you can dress up to fit in next to me. If we keep taking the risk and linking up, we have to be secure and can’t let a single soul know anything.”
The teen told police that she spotted Love working at her school on Thursday and got scared because she had lied to him about which school she attends.
According to the arrest report, Love was transported to the Miami Gardens Police Department where he declined to give a statement.
He faces charges of using a computer to seduce or lure a child to engage in sex conduct, offenses against students by authority figures and contributing to the delinquency of a child.
As of Friday afternoon, Love was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $3,000 bond.
