OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – “Investigators fear there may be additional victims” of a tech at an Oakland Park psychiatric hospital accused of raping a drugged patient multiple times over the course of a night, officials with the Broward Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
Local 10 News first reported on the arrest of Jeff Doresca, 37, on Wednesday. Deputies said he worked at Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center at 5757 N. Dixie Highway and raped a 32-year-old woman being treated for schizophrenia and depression on Sunday while she was “unable to resist” after taking prescription medications.
Authorities said CCTV footage showed him going in and out of the woman’s room multiple times and said her roommate witnessed at least one of the rapes.
They arrested him the next day on six counts of sexual battery on a helpless victim. BSO Special Victims Unit Detective Dimos Charoudis wrote in an arrest report that Doresca admitted that “he was not thinking straight when he had sex with a helpless victim.”
BSO spokesperson Claudinne Caro put out a plea for additional information on Thursday as detectives probe whether Doresca may have victimized others.
She said anyone who thinks they were victimized should call Charoudis at 954-321-4243 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
Doresca remained behind bars without bond in the BSO Main Jail as of Thursday afternoon.
