The crash involving a 2012 Kawasaki motorcycle and a 2024 Kia Soul sports utility vehicle was at about 12:40 a.m., on I-95 northbound, north of Atlantic Boulevard, in Pompano Beach.

According to Florida Highway Patrol troopers, the Fort Lauderdale man who died was riding the Kawasaki and a 29-year-old Lighthouse Point man was driving the Kia Soul SUV.

The Kawasaki was behind the Kia on the outside paved travel lane “traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop, slow, or take an evasive maneuver,” according to FHP.

The Kawasaki struck the Kia and came to a final rest on its side facing north on the outside paved shoulder, while the Kia faced north on the right paved shoulder, according to FHP.

Fire rescue personnel took the motorcyclist to Broward North Hospital where he died. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies also responded. The crash was under investigation.
