The car thefts come after federal prosecutors in Florida charged seven Chilean men, including undocumented migrants, for the burglaries of six professional athletes between October and December.
The FBI and prosecutors identified the suspects as Pablo Zuniga Cartes, Ignacio Zuniga Cartes, Bastian Jimenez Freraut, Jordan Quiroga Sanchez, Bastian Orellano Morales, Alexander Huiaguil Chavez, and Sergio Ortego Cabello.
The burglary victims include NFL stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, of the Kansas City Chiefs; quarterback Joe Burrow, of the Cincinnati Bengals, and players from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
It’s unclear if the car thefts are related to the Chilean crime tourism that the FBI has been investigating.
