Authorities said Juan Jesus Fragoso Santos, 39, of Uruapan, Michoacán, drugged and raped a 13-year-old girl in Sunrise after offering her a ride and a chocolate chip cookie from Subway.

According to an arrest report from the Sunrise Police Department, the crime happened on Jan. 29.

Police said just before 4 p.m. that day, the girl flagged down a driver in the 10300 block of Northwest 50th Street seeking help, telling him she “had just been drugged and raped.”

He called police, the report states. Authorities said she was taken to Broward Health Coral Springs where she had “visible trauma” consistent with rape and the presence of marijuana in her system.

SPD Detective Christopher Campanelli wrote that the girl told investigators that she had been walking along Hiatus Road at 11 a.m. when Fragoso Santos, in a silver Kia Soul with several suitcases inside, asked her if she needed a ride.

Police said the girl got in and Fragoso Santos offered her the cookie and drove her to her friend’s house. Campanelli wrote that Fragoso Santos later picked her up from her friend’s house and they drove to Snappers Fish & Chicken in Lauderhill, where CCTV footage showed them ordering a meal.

The girl told police that Fragoso Santos gave her several blue gummies and she immediately began feeling like she was drugged.

Police said the girl asked him to drive her home but he instead said he had to go to his office and raped her in a parking lot in an industrial park at 10301 NW 50th St., after which she ran away.

The report states that detectives would later find the Kia at 10501 NW 50th St., with a Subway cookie and suitcases inside, and encountered Fragoso Santos.

Campanelli wrote that Fragoso Santos later admitted, in graphic detail, what he did to the girl.

Authorities said the Kia was owned by a friend of Fragoso Santos, who let him borrow it for the day. The friend owns businesses in the industrial park where the rape occurred, the report states.

Police arrested Fragoso Santos on charges of sexual battery on a child aged 12 or older and lewd and lascivious battery in the early morning hours of Jan. 30.

As of Thursday morning, Fragoso Santos was being held in the Broward Sheriff’s Office Paul Rein Detention Facility in Pompano Beach on a $100,000 bond and an immigration hold.
