BSO homicide detectives identified 20-year-old Kamarri Sanders as the latest suspect in the case.
Investigators with BSO’s V.I.P.E.R. (Violence Intervention Proactive Enforcement Response) unit said they arrested Sanders on Friday in Miami Gardens.
Detectives confirmed that Sanders was transported to BSO’s Main Jail, where he faces two counts of premediated first-degree murder. He is also being held without bond.
Authorities previously arrested 28-year-old Antoine Harris and 29-year-old Jaquan Thomas in connection with the double homicide of Beatrice Saintvil and her daughter, Janelle Souffrant.
Harris was taken into custody in Miami Gardens last December, while Thomas was arrested in Georgia on unrelated charges and is awaiting extradition to Broward County.
The deadly shooting occurred on June 6, 2023. Just after 11:14 p.m.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to reports of gunfire on the northbound lanes of the Turnpike near Mile Marker 49, just south of Hollywood Boulevard.
Authorities said troopers arrived to find Saintvil and her daughter in a black sedan parked on the left shoulder, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
Hollywood Fire Rescue transported Saintvil to a hospital, where she later died. Her daughter was pronounced dead at the scene, according to investigators.
BSO took over the investigation at FHP’s request. Last June, the reward for information leading to an arrest was increased to $20,000 after the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) matched the initial reward with an additional $10,000.
With Sanders now in custody, jail records show that all three suspects are facing two counts of first-degree murder as authorities continue their investigation.
Anyone with information on the case is urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
