The order puts FHP troopers at work under Homeland Security to assist U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Florida.

FHP troopers do not have the authority that ICE agents have to arrest an undocumented migrant over an immigration law violation.

DeSantis’s directive does allow FHP troopers to investigate suspects and report their findings to federal agents who can make decisions about deportations.
