Jimmy Butler’s portion of Miami Heat mural will be painted over

MIAMI – One paint brush stroke at a time, artists got rid of Jimmy Butler’s portion of the Miami Heat mural in Wynwood.

The 50-foot-high image was in the process of being removed on Friday, as a way to mark the end of an era for the basketball player on the team.

Kyle Holbrook is the artist behind the mural.

Since the announcement of Butler being traded to the Golden State Warriors, Holbrook said many community members have reached out to him saying it’s time for Jimmy to go.

Holbrook said the whole process of removing and painting the new players will take him about a month.

“Artistically I represent the Miami Heat Nation, so I think everybody wants him gone, so humbly I represent that (cut here and butt with) “It’s going to be difficult when I take the first brush, it’s my art and a lot of happiness on 3 finals,” said Kyle Holbrook, artist.

Holbrook also said Butler’s removal made space for the new heat faces. Once Butler retires from playing basketball, he will make the wall again with some of the other legends who once played for the Miami Heat.
