PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – As the investigation into a deadly wreck in Pembroke Pines continues, family members are mourning the man killed.
It happened Monday at the intersection of Pines Boulevard and Douglas Road.
Just two days on the job and two years in the United States, Julian Santiago Gonzalez, 20, was killed on his scooter while delivering for DoorDash by a driver who hit and dragged him.
His distraught family said he had big dreams of being a music producer and of one day being able to buy his parents a house in Colombia, where will be buried. His family hopes a GoFundMe page can help them afford that.
“He’d bring a lot of joy and a lot of energy,” cousin Leandro Arango said. “He was always full of energy, 100%, all the time, and I love that being brought to me and I love reciprocating that back to him.”
Pembroke Pines police said they are actively looking into what happened and have said criminal charges are possible. They said they are in touch with the driver and are looking into whether speed or alcohol may have played a factor.
Family members said they can’t wait for what they call “justice.”
