Pembroke Pines residents face $230M obligation bond vote

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – There are signs up announcing proposed improvement projects in Pembroke Pines as part of a $230 million obligation bond that residents still need to vote on.

These include about $7.6 million in upgrades at Pasadena Park and $120 million for the new police station and to improve the public safety complex.

City Hall would also see improvements. There would also be some pavement and traffic-related upgrades.

“We are going to chip in $60 million from savings,” Mayor Angelo Castillo said. "Your savings to offset the cost.”

If residents vote to approve the bond, a homeowner with an average taxable property valued at $202,000 would pay an extra $94 a year for 30 years.
