OPA-LOCKA, Fla. – A 25-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday morning after he allegedly attempted to stab a police officer in Opa-locka, records show.
According to an arrest report, the police officer was patrolling Northwest 135 Street near 27 Avenue when he saw Josue Rodriguez fighting with men who were in a car.

The police officer reported Rodriguez, 25, said the men had stolen his car, but he was so intoxicated and aggressive that he quickly became the criminal suspect.
Rodriguez “began to swing at me, striking me on the arm ... he picked up a 14-inch metal strip from the ground and held it at me in an overhand position as if he was going to stab me,” the police officer wrote in his report.
Rodriguez continued to be aggressive and used racial slurs after backup and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel arrived, according to police.
Records show police officers arrested Rodriguez and correctional officers booked him on Tuesday morning at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
Rodriguez is facing charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, two counts of battery on a police officer, resisting an officer with violence, and disorderly conduct.
