Miami-Dade man accused of sharing child sex abuse videos on Kik messenger

One video showed victim under 3, deputies say

Juan Carlos Montejo (MDCR)

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man who lives in the Westchester area of southwest Miami-Dade used a messaging app to share videos of young girls — one of whom appeared to be under 3 — being raped or otherwise sexually abused, deputies said.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, Juan Carlos Montejo Jr. was taken into custody Monday evening after a months-long investigation.

An arrest report states that in July, Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives working with the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force relayed a tip to the then-Miami-Dade Police Department that Montejo, 28, had uploaded “multiple videos” depicting child sexual abuse via the messaging app Kik.

Deputies said Kik had flagged and reported the illicit videos.

The report describes the contents of four videos in graphic detail. Deputies said the apparent ages of the victims shown in the clips ranged from under 3 to 12 years old.

Authorities said they surveilled Montejo’s home on Southwest 112th Avenue in late January and MDSO deputies moved in to arrest him on Monday.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Montejo — facing four felony charges related to the possession of child sexual abuse material — was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $10,000 bond.
